BARCO
Making meetings easier Midwich is now stocking Barco’s ClickShare Hub modular conferencing room system, which has just launched Wireless Bring Your Own Device capabilities that makes sharing content in meetings even easier.
Hybrid meetings are a part of everyday working life for many people – ‘jumping on a call’ is now established practice to liaise with colleagues, customers and potential customers who are working elsewhere. But jumping on a call isn’t always as easy as people would like. Businesses standardise their room systems to ensure security, consistency and ease of use. But there can still be problems – meeting invites may be scheduled on Zoom, Webex or Google Meet. The reserved room may be unexpectedly unavailable, requiring a quick switch to another space. External guests may need to host from their own laptop. These scenarios can create delays, improvised setups and unnecessary support requests. But to tackle this problem, Barco has launched Wireless Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) for ClickShare Hub. With Wireless BYOD, users can run a Zoom, Webex or Google Meet call from their own laptop in a room system, while using the room’s display, camera, microphone and speakers. Employees and guests simply plug the next-gen ClickShare Button into their laptop to connect automatically to the room’s display, camera, microphone and
speakers – then start the meeting from their laptop. This enables meetings to run on the required platform while maintaining a consistent in-room experience, including wireless content sharing. Wireless BYOD also doesn’t create extra work for IT managers as it can be enabled in a room system without additional room reconfiguration or extra wiring. It provides a standardised solution for common realities, including platform mismatches, last-minute room switches, and guest-led meetings, helping reduce urgent tickets and avoidable escalations. Wireless BYOD does not require new end user hardware beyond the ClickShare Button already used for ClickShare experiences. ClickShare Hub is built on the Microsoft Devices Ecosystem Platform. With the addition of Wireless BYOD, ClickShare Hub now supports meetings on third- party video conferencing platforms. “Room systems provide a standard for many organisations because they deliver a consistent, secure experience at scale,” says Jan van Houtte, executive vice president, meeting experience at Barco. “With Wireless BYOD for ClickShare Hub, Barco takes an important step in our strategy to make meeting rooms more flexible, yet simple and secure, so people can collaborate with confidence in any situation.” n
