MPS IN A HYBRID WORLD

Flexible friends Hybrid working is now a fixture of the working world, which means that managed print solutions must evolve to fit this – but there is still good money to be made from them.

While more people are heading back to the office in 2023, there are still significant numbers of people who have hybrid working patterns, or still work at home. With these arrangements now becoming permanent, office managers are seeking to adapt their managed print solutions (MPS) to accommodate this new way of working. “With more employees working remotely or in a hybrid model, the demand for flexible printing solutions has increased,” says Rowan Jeffreys-Hoar, director of indirect sales at Ricoh UK. “The MPS industry has recognised the need to adapt to the changing work environment by offering solutions tailored to hybrid workers, including cloud-based integration and mobile printing. This allows employees to print from anywhere in a secure and cost-effective way. Partners should be proactive and review their MPS contracts on a regular basis to continue adding value to their customers. There are numerous advantages of MPS for hybrid workers, Rowan adds. “MPS can offer a range of advantages to hybrid workers,

particularly through added flexibility of the standard user experience and functionalities,” he says. “Employees can print from anywhere, whether they’re working from their home office, a coworking space, or at client venues. Crucially, offering this flexibility does not come at a cost to security as MPS providers can help organisations to ensure the security of their printed documents with access control functions and encryption.” Money to be made This means that there is still money to be made from providing MPS to businesses with hybrid working. “As businesses transition to new ways of working, they often need to update or upgrade their print fleet to accommodate this, which can then create opportunities for MPS providers to offer hardware and software solutions,” says Rowan. “MPS providers should be ensuring they continue to deliver value-adding services to their customers to help streamline their print processes. This could include offering solutions such as document management,
