How can you say Kyocera MFPs are ‘secure inside’?

Kyocera raises its fighting spirit, by taking a proactive approach to ensure the highest possible level of data protection for its devices. A new wave of cyber threats is upon us, and there’s no room for complacency. That’s why Kyocera continues to innovate its security proposition. We proactively take on the challenge of protecting our customers’ data and that starts with our multifunctional printing devices (MFPs) which we are confident are secure inside. Data security is top of mind for many channel partners and their customers. Two main factors are driving this – General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the rise in hybrid working. We all know that under GDPR a data breach can attract a large fine and reputational damage; what isn’t so well understood is the risk of threat through remote networks and home devices.

The security credentials of our A3 MFPs were recently validated by Keypoint Intelligence as exceeding industry standards and Kyocera was awarded the ‘Security Seal’ for device penetration.

Our TASKalfa 3554ci series was verified to be free from any high-risk vulnerabilities from outside attacks.

How invincible are Kyocera’s MFPs when it comes to security?

Device penetration testing is meticulous. Keypoint Intelligence and Accenture Security put Kyocera’s devices through a stringent examination process. This included automated cyber attacks and manual ‘white-hat’ hacking to expose any potential vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit. No critical or high-risk vulnerabilities in Kyocera's device firmware and underlying operating system were found.

Why is onboard MFP security so important?

MFPs can act as an entry point to a customer's network. Older devices, or those with not such robust security, may be more vulnerable leaving an open door for hackers to access business sensitive data. As a minimum, businesses should be looking for printing devices that have onboard security tools as standard. For example, our MFPs have Hard Disk Drive (HDD) encryption with seven-times data overwrite, firmware validation and USB port lockdown to safeguard against data loss, malware and unauthorised network access through the device.

What is the highest level of security on Kyocera devices?

We call our highest level of security K-level. The benefits are substantial, and K-level provides outstanding data protection from day one.
