Celebrating success The Network Group Annual Exhibition, Gala & Awards took place recently, showcasing those who have excelled in the past year and provided great opportunities to network and catch up with friends.
Twickenham is renowned the world over as the home of English rugby, a theatre of competition and glory. But on Thursday, October 13, there was competition and glory again, but in a very different sphere, as the winners of Network Group’s annual awards were named. Network Group is the UK’s leading technology community and has supported the growth of UK tech companies since 1994. The community now represents over 80 members from across the IT channel, bringing together thousands of tech leaders. At the annual Exhibition and Gala, members, partners, and the wider channel community came together to learn, share and celebrate the successes of the past year. In the daytime, there was an exhibition and programme of meetings covering a range of topics including security, planning for recession, as well as focus groups and networking opportunities. One of the best attended seminars was in the morning when rugby legends Tim Stimpson, Scott Quinnell and and Paul Wallace – all veterans of the 1997 British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa – who shared tales of their career, as well as what they have done since and how the values of rugby can be applied to business. But in the evening came the main event – the gala and awards. The event was hosted by comedian and
broadcaster Mark Dolan, and included the awards ceremony, dinner and a charity raffle in aid of SOHK, a charity that supports people who are not where they want to be through a combination of rugby, mentoring and planning for the future. Network Group’s managing director, David Tulip, said: “Our annual awards event is always highly anticipated by the technology channel and this year is no different. We were delighted to be at the home of English rugby for this event; a place of competition and success! Rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship resonate with our community of technology service providers and channel partners, with a big thank you to one of these, Pax8 for choosing to headline this prestigious event.” Pax8 senior director of channel, EMEA, Michael Breeze, spoke of the company’s pride in being headline sponsors. “As a company, we firmly support growth in the UK channel community, we believe collaboration and education is key to this,” he said. “Network Group provides a hub for great minds to come together.” What the winners said On the night, Pax8 won the ‘Distributor of the Year’ and ‘Biggest Impact New Partner’ awards.
