ADVERTORIAL – PHILIPS EDUCATION

A learning experience Interactive technology is playing an increasingly large role in classrooms – and around educational establishments – across the country, and Philips Professional Displays (PPDS) has produced a range of solutions that fit with all types of learning.

For teachers, interactive technology is increasingly part of their everyday equipment in the classroom – be they in primary, secondary or tertiary education settings. Interactive displays are often an indispensable piece of kit – the days or board markers or chalk are increasingly in the past. This means that resellers have increasing opportunities to sell technology products into educational establishments, such as those available through Exertis from tech giant Philips. While Phillips might not automatically be associated with the education sector, it is an important vertical for the Dutch company, says Frank Trossen, director of global business development – education at Phillips. “Philips made a strategic decision to move into education market, but in a different way than most of the other brands are doing,” he says. Like many other manufacturers in this vertical, Phillips has a range of interactive displays made for the education market, although as Frank notes, penetration of this product is high, so it not so much about new business, but replacements and upgrades. Whole solution But Phillips provides much more for educational establishments – and not just in

the classroom. It has developed the Open2 solution to elevate smart schooling. This has solutions for inside the classroom – interactive and traditional – outside the classroom and distance learning. For the interactive classroom, there are a variety of touchscreen solutions, including seamless content sharing, such as casting from multiple devices for collaborative presentations and mirroring content from the big screen to personal devices, says Frank. “On the more traditional side, there are a range of solutions to displaying visual information, including digital displays keep students interested, the ability to mix traditional teaching styles with digital content, which can be chosen depending on how the teacher wants to teach a particular lesson,” he adds. There are also solutions for those teaching in lecture theatres to help deliver striking presentations on large-format LED screens that can be seen by all. In addition, there are even devices that can measure air quality with real-time monitoring of room temperature, humidity, CO2 and pollution levels via a plug and play sensor, so rooms can be kept safe and healthy for all. Outside the classroom, there are technologies such as interactive signs that can be placed on or by doors.
