Changes in the notebook market for UK customers In the second part of his look at how consumer behaviour was affected by COVID-19, data analyst Wickus Bester investigates broader changes in the notebook market.

In last month’s feature, we looked at how consumer behaviour was affected by the COVID-19 lockdown through looking at search trends in the channel. We saw how notebooks excelled during this time as most of the workforce shifted quickly to working from home. Generations come and pass In the past few years, we saw several generations of microprocessor enter and exit the scene, pursued by the bear of a chip shortage. For Intel, the i5 is still a customer favourite, but its i7’s 11th generation has also performed well and these two now lead this market segment by some distance. We also saw the launch of the Apple M Pro chip, taking the place of many Apple M products. The Apple Max, albeit more powerful, seemed to not have taken hold in the channel, with the Pro chip providing what Apple users need.
