ERGONOMIC FURNITURE

movement, support good posture and enable regular transitions between sitting and standing can help reduce the risks associated with prolonged sitting, while also improving employee satisfaction and wellbeing. These considerations are just as important for home workers as they are for office-based staff, particularly in today’s hybrid working environment.” Strong demand With these considerations, it is no surprise that demand for ergonomic furniture for office workers and those who work at home remains strong. “As organisations focus on employee wellbeing, productivity and retention, they’re increasingly seeking solutions that support hybrid workers wherever they work,” says Matt. “At the same time, employees are becoming more aware of the impact workspace setup has on their health and performance, creating demand for practical ergonomic solutions in corporate and home settings.” Victoria agrees that demand remains strong and continues to grow as organisations place greater emphasis on employee wellbeing and hybrid working practices. “ACCO Brands reports growth across the ergonomic category, driven by a need for solutions that support employees working across offices, homes, co-working spaces and other flexible environments,” she adds. “The rise of hybrid work has increased demand for ergonomic products that are compact, versatile and suitable for a variety of spaces. Popular categories include sit-stand desks, laptop risers, footrests, active sitting stools, wobble cushions and monitor arms, all of which help users create healthier workstations wherever they work.” Trends But while demand remains strong for ergonomic furniture, what customers want from their products is changing, and

distinct trends have emerged in the market. Victoria notes that one of the biggest trends is the move away from traditional fixed office working towards more flexible and hybrid work arrangements. “Employees are no longer working from a single location, creating demand for ergonomic solutions that can easily adapt between office and home environments,” she says. “Customers are increasingly interested in products that promote ‘dynamic sitting’ and movement throughout the day, rather than simply providing static seating. There is also growing interest in space- saving, flexible workstation solutions that can be quickly adjusted for different users. This is particularly relevant in hot- desking environments, where products such as Kensington’s SmartFit™ range make ergonomic adjustment simple and accessible.” She adds that younger generations entering the workforce are placing greater emphasis on wellbeing. “This is encouraging employers to invest more actively in ergonomic products and wellness initiatives that deliver measurable benefits.” Matt agrees that hybrid working continues to shape demand. “As fewer employees require a permanent desk, desk sharing and agile working environments are becoming more common, increasing the need for adjustable ergonomic solutions,” he says.
